Golf Holiday

Sri Lanka has 3 exotic 18-hole golf courses located in 3 completely different climates and environments but within a small travel time to each other. The Royal Colombo Golf Club is an oasis of green and serenity amidst the bustling city of Colombo on the tropical plains, the picturesque Victoria Golf Course is set amongst the hills and valleys of Kandy, and the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club at an elevation of 6000 feet above mean sea level, amidst cool mountains is reminiscent of Golf Courses in Scotland.

The Royal Colombo Golf Club is the oldest club outside the British Isles located in a serene environment amidst a bustling metropolis.

Royal Colombo Golf Club

The Royal Colombo Golf Club, which celebrated its centenary in 1979, is one of the oldest golf / clubs in the world.

This course is 5770m long (par 71) and features many water hazards starting with the first hole and well guarded bunkers. At the 6th hole, golfers meet the Kelani Valley train which passes across the fairway.

Club is easily accessible, being 20 minutes drive from all first-class hotels in the city.

Victoria Golf Club

"Some golf courses have a splendid undulating terrain over which the holes are routed. Some golf courses have a scenic backdrop of hills and lakes, which excite the senses. However, the Victoria Golf Course near Kandy is blessed with both attributes"
Donald Steel, Golf Architect

Victoria offers a unique golfing challenge to players of all abilities, and is rated amongst the 100 most beautiful courses in the world by Golf Digest. Set within the grounds of a former mixed farm the 6945 yard par 73 Championship layout has taken full advantage of the existing undulating terrain, with coconut and majestic hardwood trees incorporated into the overall design. The setting is spectacular and the course offers a test to even the most accomplished players.

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, founded more than a century ago, is one of the three Championship Golf courses in Sri Lanka.

The course at a length of 5.528 meters (par 70), has reached its maximum possible size with no land available for extension. It is almost entirely encircled by public roads which have to be crossed eight times in a round of golf. Its narrow fairways make it extremely challenging and provide ample reward to the straight driver.

Providing a delightful environmental green belt to the town, the course is basically divided into three parts - the seven holes around the Club House which are laid out on reclaimed swamp land, the three hilly holes aptly named 'Switzerland', and the remaining eight river holes in the playing of which a stream has to be crossed no less than ten times.
