Arrive in Sri Lanka and after being met by our representative proceed to the north central regions of the island which has the most fascinating collection of ancient monuments dating back to over 2500 years. Sigiriya is close to the epi-centre of the well known Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka linking the ancient capitals of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy. The drive to Sigiriya takes about 4 hours past lush green paddy fields, plantations and temples. Arrive in Sigiriya and check in at the plush Elephant Corridor or the warm Amaya Lake. Unwind and enjoy the resorts facilities till overnight stay.

Drive to Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Ceylon and today a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sightsee the ancient ruins which are well preserved, each with its own tale of folklore, myth and legend. The dagobas, stupas, temples and pleasure gardens built by ancient kings bear testimony to a civilization that enjoyed aesthetics amongst other preferences. Return to Sigiriya and relax at the resort till overnight stay.

Drive to Polonnaruwa the 2nd capital of ancient Ceylon. Visit the remarkably well preserved ruin city located close to an enormous man-made reservoir even today called the “sea of Parakrama” after a famous King who built it. Polonnaruwa is also famous for wood-carving and a visit to a wood-carver is included. Return to the resort and relax till overnight stay.

Visit the ancient Sigiriya Rock Citadel an awe inspiring feat of engineering which baffles minds of modern times for building a Palace at the summit of the 470 meter high sheer rock soaring into the sky. Sigiriya is not only a Citadel, but an aesthetically built complex of pleasure gardens, ponds and the famous frescoes – paintings of beautiful maidens – some well preserved and visible even today. Visit Dambulla & Kandy. Dambulla is famous for its cave temples with its walls and roof paintings and stone sculptures of Kings, Gods & The Buddha done by an ancient king who lived in exile in the caves for 14 years. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese Kings before the country was annexed to the British Empire in 1815. In Kandy visit the temple where the tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined, the Royal Botanical Gardens which was the pleasure gardens of the Kandyan Kings and the Kandyan Arts & Crafts Centre. Return to the resort enroute stopping at an exotic spice garden to see how spices are grown and enjoy a warm cup of herbal tea. Overnight at the resort.
