Day temperatures comfortable in the low 20’s C and at night it can drop to 10 C hence fireplaces are in all bungalows. The driest part of the year is December to April; June/July & October/November can be wet but the ambience of the bungalows is such you’d think there is nothing better than curling up in front of the fireplace with a good book.

By road, only 4.30 hours from the airport or Colombo, 2 hours from Kandy or 90-minutes from Nuwara Eliya. By seaplane land at the picturesque Castlereagh reservoir; 30 minutes from Colombo, 15 minutes from Kandy.

Each bungalow has its own manager, chef, butler & house boys, wide verandahs, sweeping lawns, sundecks or summer huts and offers 4 to 6 luxury rooms & suites. Spacious bedrooms with excellent view letting sunlight in, smooth weathered teak floors and warm clay tiles, pale tones and natural wood, create equilibrium in the midst of a hectic life. Many sitting areas, old wooden desks to write postcards with real stamps, silk cushions and huge spaces warmed by roaring log fires brings an exquisite touch. Master suites have their own separate living room, Garden Suites have private verandah and Luxury Rooms with great character; each with elegant en-suite bathrooms, twin wash basins and a traditional bathtub with shower.

A tea factory visit is a must to see the care with which leaves are plucked, dried and processed, trekking across tea estates, kayaking or boating on the lake. A dawn expedition to climb the famed “Adams Peak” holy mountain offering a stunning view of one of nature’s most beautiful sights of the morning sunrise when viewed from the mountain peak. Golf in Nuwara Eliya & mountain biking are other options, and treks are well organized with maps, guides and marked trails.

Children are welcome at Tea Trails. Two children up to the age of 12 years are allowed to share their parents’ room and many rooms are large enough to accommodate extra beds. Bearing in mind the peace and quiet most guests prefer parents are requested to ensure children are not noisy inside the bungalows, however they have plenty of opportunity to scream and shout on the various excursions on in sections of the large gardens.
